Kampala
On the first day of your 5 Days Uganda Primates & Wildlife Safari, depart at 8:00 am from Kampala or Entebbe. Your guide/driver will pick you up from your specified location.
Journey through the Kampala-Masaka-Mbarara-Kabale road. Enjoy lunch at Igongo Cultural Centre in Mbarara. Continue the direct drive to Bwindi. Check-in at Buhoma Haven Lodge, freshen up, have dinner, and stay overnight.
Wake up at 5:30 am, enjoy breakfast, and pack your lunch provided by the lodge. Meet your driver for a briefing at the headquarters before starting the gorilla trek at 8:00 am. A trained game ranger will lead you through the thick, impenetrable forest trails in search of a habituated Gorilla family.
The trek takes 2-5 hours. Spend one hour with the gorillas, observing their behaviors. Keep an eye out for other wildlife. After trekking, return to the lodge, freshen up, and engage in a community encounter with the Batwa clan. Enjoy traditional songs, dance, and return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Arise in the morning, have breakfast, check out, and meet your driver at 8:00 am. Start the journey from Bwindi to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Your driver will provide information about the park during the 3-4 hours’ drive.
Upon arrival, check-in at Park View Hotel. Enjoy lunch, refresh, and experience tree-climbing lions in Ishasha sector. In the evening, go for a game drive in the eastern parts of Kasenyi Plains. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Wake up at 5:30 am for a morning game drive in Kasenyi Plains. Witness a variety of wildlife, including herbivores like buffalos, elephants, and Uganda kob. The drive takes 5-6 hours.
Return to the lodge for lunch and prepare for an evening boat cruise on the Kazinga channel in the Mweya Peninsula. The cruise, starting at 2:00 pm, offers sightings of hippos, buffalos, Uganda Kob, elephants, and more. After the cruise, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
For chimpanzee tracking, wake up early, enjoy breakfast, and pack lunch, snacks, and water. Your driver will take you to the office for a briefing on chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge. The trek begins early, and you may spend 2-6 hours observing chimpanzees.
After trekking, your driver will return you to the lodge. Check-out, exit the park, and start your journey to Kampala. Arrive in Kampala late in the evening. If you are staying overnight in Kampala, your driver can take you for an evening city walk around Kampala streets, Nakasero market, and then return you to your lodge.
